Privacy policy
We fix computers, which means we are sometimes trusted with the most personal thing people own. This page explains what we do with your information, in plain English.

Who we are
Databugs Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 07958843), with its office at Unit 9, Cirencester Office Park, Tetbury Road, Cirencester, GL7 6JJ. We are the data controller for the information described on this page. You can reach us at help@databugs.co.uk or 07765 401924.
The information we collect
When you contact us or use our services, we collect the details you give us: your name, phone number, email address, and where relevant your postal address and business name. We also keep a record of the work we have done for you — the device, the fault, what we did, and what you were charged.
When you visit this website, our hosting provider may collect basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type, in order to serve the site and keep it secure.
Your device, and what is on it
This is the part that matters most, so we will be direct about it. When you bring us a computer, phone or hard drive, we may need to access the data on it in order to diagnose the fault, recover your files, or transfer them to a new machine. That data can include photographs, documents, emails, financial records and passwords.
We access your data only so far as the job requires. We do not browse, copy, share or retain your personal files for any other purpose. Where we make a temporary copy in order to carry out a repair or recovery, we delete it once the work is complete and you have confirmed you have your data back — normally within 30 days.
If, in the course of our work, we were ever to encounter material we are legally obliged to report, we would report it. We hope this never arises, but you should know it.
Why we hold your information, and on what basis
We use your information to carry out the work you have asked us to do, to contact you about it, to invoice you, and to keep records required by law. In data protection terms, we rely on: performance of a contract (doing the job you hired us for), legal obligation (keeping accounting records), and legitimate interests (running the business, and keeping a service history so we can help you better next time).
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for marketing. We will not add you to a mailing list because you had a laptop fixed.
Who we share information with
Only where necessary: our accountants, our IT and hosting providers, and payment processors — each of whom is bound to handle it properly. If a repair requires a specialist third party (for example, a component supplier), we share only what that job needs, and never the contents of your device without asking you first.
How long we keep it
Customer and job records are kept for six years, which is what UK tax and accounting rules require. Any copies of your personal files are deleted as soon as the work is finished, as described above. If you would like us to delete your contact details sooner, ask, and we will do so wherever the law allows.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us what information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted where we are not required to keep it, to object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. To do any of these things, email help@databugs.co.uk. We will respond within one month, and it costs nothing.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This website uses only the cookies necessary to make it work. We do not use advertising cookies or sell information about your visit. If we ever add analytics, we will ask your permission first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
Questions
Ask us. We would far rather explain than have you wondering. Call 07765 401924 or email help@databugs.co.uk.
